There are no legal restrictions of any kind on foreign ownership of property. Real estate can be held in the names of one or more individuals or in a corporation. Title is granted and guaranteed by the Cayman Islands Government, thus ensuring and protecting property ownership. Further, there are, generally, no imposed requirements to develop land within a stipulated time period (excluding some subdivisions which may have some covenants). Of particular note, there is no annual property tax in the Cayman Islands. As a result, land can be held indefinitely, with little or no expense, for future development and/or for speculation purposes.
