The three Cayman Islands are situated approximately 425 miles (and just one hours flight) due south of Miami, Florida. The western most island, Grand Cayman, is the largest of the three islands with the centre of commerce and tourism located in George Town and along the world renowned Seven Mile Beach. The sister islands of Little Cayman and Cayman Brac are found approximately 90 miles to the north east of Grand Cayman. The three Cayman Islands are in essence coral outcroppings of a submerged mountain range which extends from Cuba to the north and Belize to the south west. The deepest water in the Caribbean, the Cayman Trench, is just off shore of the Cayman Islands and extends towards Jamaica to the east. The dramatic fluctuations in depth (charted down to four miles) so close to shore provides an awe-inspiring change of hues of the water around the Cayman Islands from palest lime to aquamarine to inky cobalt and finally to deep sapphire as the sea pulls away from the coast. The three islands comprise a total of approximately 100 square miles. On a map, Grand Cayman appears to wrap itself around a body of water known as the North Sound, Cayman's water sport playground, also home to the famous "Stingray City". The Sister Islands, Little Cayman and Cayman Brac, have their own distinguishing features and unique charms and all offer excellent diving, fishing and snorkeling.
